In Extremadura's Tierra de Barros comarca, a single new firm in Almendralejo contributes 30,000 euros of the 51,300 that the four new registrations total, and only one municipal plot in Villafranca de los Barros, on Calle Gravina, is accepting bids, with Monday 19th as its deadline. Hornachos, Santa Marta and Villafranca de los Barros gain new companies, Los Santos de Maimona, Zafra and Fuente del Maestre are studying offers for works, and regional grants are open for studying English outside school hours.

Four new companies that beat last week's two

Holiday accommodation in Almendralejo concentrates the comarca's fresh capital. A company based in Almendralejo was registered with 30,000 euros of capital, the money the partners put in when founding the company, to run holiday and short-stay accommodation, with property development and the construction of buildings as additional activities, according to the BORME of 8 October, the Official Gazette of the Companies Register, where new companies must be published by law. That is 58 per cent of the total registered this week in the comarca. It is the only one of the four with property development among its purposes.
Hornachos registers a motor trade company on 8 October. A tyre company was set up in Hornachos, also in the BORME of 8 October, with 14,800 euros, the second largest by capital. It will repair and service motor vehicles.
Two farm services firms add up to 6,500 euros in Villafranca de los Barros and Santa Marta. El Coto Servicios Agrícolas Villafranca was founded in Villafranca de los Barros with 3,500 euros for farming support, with bricklaying and gardens as additional activities (BORME of 13 October). Bioserviplantex was registered in Santa Marta with 3,000 euros for farm services and the wholesale of fruit and vegetables (BORME of 14 October). The four new companies together add up to 51,300 euros, slightly more than the 48,400 of the two the week before.

The Los Santos de Maimona schools top the list

Villafranca de los Barros sells a municipal plot. Villafranca de los Barros city council is selling a municipal plot on Calle Gravina, put out to tender for 369,028.24 euros before VAT, and is taking bids until Monday 19 October. It is the only tender in the comarca with an open bidding window.
Four works worth 885,062.96 euros await a decision. Los Santos de Maimona city council is assessing the bids to improve the energy efficiency of its schools, Zafra's those for resurfacing urban roads and Fuente del Maestre's those for the swimming pool ramp and the electrical installation of the Hogar del Pensionista. In all four, the authority is assessing the bids and has not yet chosen a company.
Hornachos and Palomas have passed their deadlines. The refurbishment of the pools and surrounds of the Hornachos swimming pool closed its bidding window on 6 October, and the Palomas municipal gym on 30 September.

Los Santos de Maimona accounts for almost half

Freshly surfaced streets and new artificial turf in Los Santos de Maimona. GEVORA CONSTRUCCIONES, SA will carry out the municipal resurfacing plan, with a grant from the Plan Contigo of the Diputación de Badajoz, the provincial council, which mainly serves small towns, and SPORT TECHNICAL MULTIJUEGOS will replace the artificial turf of the football pitch, under the Plan Avanzamos 2025, another works programme of the same Diputación. None of the six awards is from this week.
Almendralejo will get shade and a cooling mist system at its fairground. ARCOIRIS TT SUMINISTROS, S.L.U. will draw up the project and install sail awnings and a cooling mist system at the fairground, put out to tender for 120,764.46 euros before VAT in a public tender, in which companies bid to carry out works or a service.
Ribera del Fresno insulates its school and Puebla de Sancho Pérez renews its lighting. ALAUDAE GRUPO EMPRESARIAL S.L. will carry out the insulation and window replacement at the CEIP Meléndez Valdés, a state infant and primary school, with FEDER, the European Regional Development Fund, EU money to narrow the gaps between regions. In Puebla de Sancho Pérez, ELYSE ELECTRIFICACIONES, S.L. will install the lighting on the approach to the cemetery and the electrical installation at the hermitage grounds.
In Alconera, provincial money for the electricity grid. The Diputación Provincial de Badajoz registered a grant under one of its plans for a new electrical switching substation in Alconera, located in the units UR UA-S1 23 and UR UA-S1 24.

Extremadura opens five grant calls to applicants, from after-school English to careers guidance

Extremadura opens grants to study English outside school hours this school year. The Extremadura regional government published on 13 October the call, the notice that opens the window to apply for a grant, for the 2026/2027 grants to study English after school hours. Three lines for organisations that guide people into work. The Servicio Extremeño Público de Empleo (SEXPE), the Extremadura Public Employment Service, the regional government body that runs employment policies, published on 13 October three calls for private non-profit organisations that guide into work young people aged 16 to 18, young people aged 19 to 29 and people with disabilities.
The Junta also funds the Puerta de Empleo programme. The Junta, the regional government, is awarding a direct grant to the Fundación Secretariado Gitano for Puerta de Empleo, its employment programme for Extremadura's Roma community. That money already has a recipient.
