Emergency housing takes 46.8 of every 100 euros newly tendered in the Gijón comarca this week

Gijón City Council's housing company wants contractors to knock down the old Roces La Braña schools and build social emergency housing, and to convert a storeroom into a home. Across the Gijón comarca, Villaviciosa tenders its road network for 320,468 euros, roads in the Gijón parish of Güerces find a builder, Colunga welcomes offers on the Viular roads until Tuesday 27 and Cabranes gains a new forestry company.

The city of Gijón earmarks 408,995 euros for emergency housing and wants the Roces schools razed

Five of the eight open tenders fall in the municipality of Gijón

The former Roces La Braña schools make way for housing. The housing company of Gijón City Council put out a contract on 15 October for the former Roces La Braña schools. It combines drafting the project, the demolition and the construction of a building for social emergency housing. It is a public tender, in which companies bid to carry out works or a service. It is priced at 320,151.98 euros excluding VAT, before taxes, on the Plataforma de Contratación, the official portal where public bodies publish their tenders for works and services. Bids are accepted until Tuesday 10 November.
A storeroom becomes a home. On the same day, the municipal company put out the refitting of a storage unit in a residential building to turn it into social emergency housing, tendered at 88,842.87 euros excluding VAT and also open for bids until 10 November.
The housing emergency dominates the new contracts. The two works add up to 408,994.85 euros excluding VAT. That is 46.8 per cent of the 874,293.65 euros of the six tenders published from 15 to 22 October in the Gijón comarca, according to the Public Sector Procurement Platform.

Villaviciosa puts 320,468 euros into maintaining its road network and leads this week's new tenders

Villaviciosa contracts out the care of its road network. Villaviciosa City Council published on 21 October the upkeep, improvement and maintenance of its road network, tendered at 320,467.91 euros excluding VAT, with bids until 16 November.
The Isabel la Católica aviary, up for refurbishment. Gijón City Council put out to tender on 21 October the refurbishment of the aviary in the Parque Isabel la Católica for 89,500.01 euros excluding VAT. On 16 October it put out the hire, installation and cleaning of portable toilets for the Sunday Rastro market, tendered at 17,704.96 euros excluding VAT.
Two deadlines expire before October is out. The waterproofing of the Edificio Polivalente of the Museo del Ferrocarril de Asturias, tendered at 123,493.99 euros excluding VAT, remains open until Thursday 29. In Colunga, the City Council is seeking a company until Tuesday 27 for the opening and improvement of roads in the Viular, tendered at 99,859.54 euros excluding VAT. Villaviciosa accepts bids until 9 November to renew sections of water supply pipe towards Careñes and Villaverde, tendered at 67,283.50 euros excluding VAT. With the two housing contracts, eight tenders are open for bids in the Gijón comarca for 1,127,304.76 euros excluding VAT, five of them in the municipality of Gijón.

The Estación Sur tracks, the largest contract still under study

Tree planting in green spaces gets its contractor. ARBORIS is listed as the winning bidder for the supply, replacement and planting of trees in streets and green spaces of the city of Gijón, tendered at 252,887.88 euros excluding VAT. The Plataforma de Contratación has not yet published the final price.
Güerces and the Museo del Pueblo de Asturias, with a contractor. ALVARGONZALEZ CONTRATAS will carry out the paving of a stretch of the Camín del monte and other roads in the parish of Güerces, tendered at 192,832.34 euros excluding VAT, and URIA INGENIERIA DE INSTALACIONES the heating and air conditioning of the photo archive of the Museo del Pueblo de Asturias, tendered at 205,410.74 euros excluding VAT.
The water company and Infrastructure close three more. The Empresa Municipal de Aguas de Gijón, the City Council company in charge of water supply, sewerage and treatment, awarded to NEW CONSTRUCTION the rehabilitation of a stretch of the Perchera sewer tendered at 96,913.41 euros excluding VAT, and to VALLAS Y CIERRES ASTURIAS, a limited company, the hire of changing-room cabins for Sanitation, tendered at 37,625.92 euros excluding VAT. In both, the tender has ended and the contract is closed. IBÉRICA DE ESTRATIFICADOS will install the flagpole and flag on the Avenida del Molinón, tendered at 59,684.10 euros excluding VAT.
The biggest works remain under review. Eleven contracts in the Gijón comarca are being assessed, which means the public body is assessing the bids and has not yet chosen a company. Among them, the renewal of the track layouts at the Estación Sur of the Port of Gijón, tendered at 4,966,653.21 euros excluding VAT, the road surfacing in the east and west zones, for 743,801.64 euros, and the cycle lane on the avenida Albert Einstein for 306,686.36 euros. The waste collection area in the port's fishing zone, tendered at 699,995.64 euros excluding VAT, no longer accepts bids.

In the city of Gijón, property developer FORTES DEVELOPMENT opens with 179,500 euros and heads six start-ups

Nine in every ten euros of new capital, in a single company

A developer starts with 179,500 euros. The BORME of 16 October, the Official Gazette of the Companies Register, where new companies must be published by law, records the incorporation in the city of Gijón of FORTES DEVELOPMENT, to buy, sell, let, build and refurbish property, with 179,500 euros of share capital, the money the partners put in at the start. That is almost 60 times the 3,000 euros with which four of the other five are founded.
Bricks, mortar and property make three newcomers. The same BORME of 16 October brings GC7 2000 PATRIMONIO, to hold and let property, and MARLLAO CONSTRUCCIONES Y REFORMAS, a builder of residential buildings, both in the city of Gijón, as well as REFERENTES ESTRATEGIA CORPORATIVA, a consultancy, and ECOBENSA SERVICIOS AMBIENTALES, for scrub clearance and forestry work in Cabranes. The list is completed by TCGS INVESTMENTS, a toy retailer, in the BORME of 20 October.
A home in Gijón no longer accepts bidders. The court auction of a home in the city of Gijón, a public sale ordered by a court, stopped accepting bids on 20 October on the Portal de Subastas, the official website of the BOE, Spain's Official State Gazette, where courts and public bodies auction property. The edict, the official notice of the auction, does not give the metres.

Safe machinery, grassroots sport and Cabranes books, plus 76,000 euros from Gijón City Council for elite clubs

Handball and volleyball take four in every ten euros

Safer machinery, with help from the Principado. The Principado, through its Instituto Asturiano de Prevención de Riesgos Laborales, published on 15 October in the Base de Datos Nacional de Subvenciones (BDNS) the 2026 call, the notice that opens the window to apply for a grant, to renew machinery when the change removes or reduces workplace risks. Amount and deadline, only in the call.
Grassroots clubs and families in Cabranes can also apply. The Consejería de Cultura, Política Lingüística y Turismo, the regional culture, language policy and tourism department, opens the grants to sports clubs for grassroots sport for the 2026/2027 season, and Cabranes City Council its grant for school books and materials, with a budget of 1,000 euros and fifteen working days, the days left once Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays are excluded, to apply from when the extract appears in the Boletín Oficial del Principado de Asturias.
Eight sports agreements in the city of Gijón now have recipients. Gijón City Council, through its Patronato Deportivo Municipal, registered eight agreements to promote top-level sport. Each one is an agreement through which the administration funds a specific organisation. They add up to 76,000 euros, from handball and volleyball to American football, baseball, cycling, badminton and athletics, with the Agrupación Deportiva Gijón Atletismo and the Universidad de Oviedo.
A municipal prize of 3,000 euros. The Fundación Municipal de Cultura of Gijón City Council opens the Premio Xixón fala en 3, with a budget of 3,000 euros, for individuals. There are 20 days to apply from when the extract appears in the Boletín Oficial del Principado de Asturias.
Young Talent Fair, with money from the Principado. The Servicio Público de Empleo del Principado de Asturias, the Principado's autonomous body that runs employment policy, granted a direct grant to the Cámara de Comercio de Gijón to hold the Feria del Talento Joven, the Young Talent Fair, in the city. The BDNS does not publish the amount.
